Are You a People-Pleaser?
Discover the hidden pattern behind why you put others first.
People-pleasing is not always obvious. It can show up as being flexible, caring, reliable, or helpful — or simply as caring deeply about your relationships. And not everyone does it in the same way.
The Bodymind People-Pleasing Self-Test explores five different patterns behind people-pleasing and how they may affect your needs, boundaries, relationships, and connection to yourself.

Five Patterns Behind People-Pleasing
In Bodymind Therapy, we work with five patterns to understand some of the different ways people can lose connection with themselves in relationships.
These patterns are not diagnoses or fixed personality types. Most people recognise themselves in more than one. The self-test highlights the pattern that seems to become automatic most often for you.
The Adapter
You tend to change yourself to maintain connection. You may know exactly what you want — until someone important wants something different.
The Prover
Being helpful, capable, strong, or reliable may be closely tied to your sense of worth and belonging.
The Caregiver
Your attention quickly shifts toward what other people need. Caring can turn into over-responsibility, while your own needs begin to feel less urgent.
The Disconnector
Under relational pressure, your own feelings, needs, or preferences can become harder to recognise or trust.
The Harmonizer
Conflict, disappointment, or emotional distance can be difficult to tolerate. Restoring harmony may become more important than expressing what you really feel.

A Self-Reflection Tool, Not a Diagnosis
The Bodymind People-Pleasing Self-Test is a psychoeducational self-reflection tool, not a diagnostic test. It explores five Bodymind Therapy patterns related to people-pleasing and how they may affect your needs, boundaries, relationships, and connection to yourself.
Some of these themes overlap with concepts found in the DSM-5-TR and ICD-11. The five patterns themselves, however, are Bodymind Therapy categories and not official diagnoses.
The aim of the test is not to put you into a box. It is to help you recognise how people-pleasing tends to organise itself for you.
You can find the scientific background of the test at the end of the FAQs.
